Nepali Blogger Threatened

Number of View: 455

Umesh Shrestha, the blogger behind hugely popular MySansar.com, has been threatened of ‘action within 24 hours if he publishes anything that directly or indirectly supports Maoists or terrorists’.

An email with subject line reading ‘last information’ by Maoists Defense Group, an anti-Maoists group not known so far, has threatened him. Bloggers Association of Nepal (BLOGAN) and NepaliVoices.com strongly condemn the threat and ask the who-so-ever behind it to let all the bloggers enjoy the ‘freedom of expression’.

I condemn this message but I am also concerned it has been turned into its opposite and messages on the web indicate that Maoists threatened umesh but the truth is the direct opposite. He has been threatened because he is thought to be sympathetic to Maoists.

Can people please make it clear that anti Maoists are threatening umesh and make sure the truth is out there !

I don’t know how Umesh became a supporter of Maoist. Maoist Defence Group is wrong to think so.
Every body is free to expess their feeling in Loktantra. I condemn the threat. Keep on your job Umesh
