Some Reading Materials

To keep updated, I am posting links to two articles about citizen journalism:

  • Voices of Freedom: Blogs and podcasts enable a powerful and authentic voice for marginalised communities sidelined by mainstream media (The Guardian, UK)
  • The Participatory Nature of OhmyNews: Citizen reporters passionately committed to social change (OhMyNews, Korea)

  1. could not agree more… you are right vahsek. what’s up with this dude? running out of ideas ??? come on someone who claims to have done so much in his profile.. now perhaps occupied with something else.. keep blogging not linking!!!

  2. I agree with the premise behind OMNI that the accessibility of voices “from the field” (note the quotes!) is an exciting trend. I think that people blogging about what affects them, in their own words is much more powerful that the usual sound bites that you get from CNN and the other news sources. I work for an NGO that supports communities that are seeking to get their voices and their message heard all over the world and you can read some of the blogs from the volunteers that we have working in Nepal this summer by visiting our website at http://advocacynet.org/blogs/ and reading the blogs of Devin, Mark, Nicole, Tassos and Ted.

  3. what is actually citizen journalism for you?
