POEM: Reminiscence
Jan 8th, 2006 by Ujjwal Acharya
The evening sun was, afar, setting,
I stand still consumed in the beauty,
Spread over the people returning,
Happily tired completing all-day duty.
The children playing gameball shares,
In front of me, the smiles and laughs,
Reminds me of my long gone years,
When I used to play with my mates.
The ground, the rule, everything the same,
Shouting, running, laughing, calling name,
I see myself on them, hear my voice,
Smile on the past, sorry, no other choice.
The innocent years gone all along,
With the smiles and the happy song,
Then comes the reality, the life,
Pricking me everywhere like a knife.
If, if only I could go back years,
I am all but ready to forget tears,
Flowing on cheeks for mate’s kick,
Or blood flowing for a hit of brick.
The cursing to my mates, I am
Ready to forget. The tame,
Little child would regain smiles,
If only I could get into years.
But, alas, the water has flown away,
The bank can’t come again in my way,
Anytime I can only rejoice the past,
But never can go into it slow or haste.
